Upper East Region RFA Chairman Alhaji Shaibu Salifu Zida leads charge against hooliganism in Ghana football

Chairman of the Upper East Region RFA and Black Starlets Committee, Alhaji Shaibu Salifu Zida, has expressed his disappointment over the rising issue of hooliganism in Ghanaian football.

Hooliganism has become increasingly prevalent, with the most recent incident occurring in Nsuatre, where an Asante Kotoko fan was tragically stabbed to death during a match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman.

In an interview with Original FM, Shaibu Zida voiced his concerns about the situation and emphasized the Football Association’s commitment to eliminating it.

“As the Chairman of the Upper East Region RFA and Black Starlets Committee, I’m deeply concerned about the scourge of hooliganism in Ghanaian football,” he told Gideon Okyere Anim on Orginal FM’s SuperSports Show.

“We cannot allow this rot to continue, and we’re committed to eradicating it from our game, starting from the Upper East Region.

“Hooliganism has no place in football, and we’ll do everything in our power to prevent it. We’re working closely with the Ghana Football Association, security agencies, and other stakeholders to identify and punish perpetrators.

“We’re also implementing measures to promote a culture of discipline and respect among our fans, players, and officials. This includes educating them on the dangers of hooliganism and the importance of fair play.

“We urge all football enthusiasts in the Upper East Region and across Ghana to join us in this fight against hooliganism. Together, we can restore the beauty of the game and make Ghana football great again,” he added.
