The Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, has engaged with survivors of the recent terrorist attack on a bus transporting Ghanaian traders in Burkina Faso.
The meeting took place on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Ghana Immigration Service border office in Paga, where the survivors were formally received upon their return to Ghana.
The engagement follows troubling reports received by the Government of Ghana concerning an attack on a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana. Addressing the survivors, the Minister expressed profound concern over the incident and conveyed the government’s solidarity and unwavering support as they recover from the traumatic ordeal.
He praised the traders for their courage and resilience in the face of adversity and reaffirmed the commitment of the Regional Coordinating Council to collaborate closely with national authorities and the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso to ensure that all affected citizens receive the necessary assistance and care.
