Officials from the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations and its partners have met with the Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing, to discuss plans for the Girls in ICT Programme in the region.
The courtesy call, held yesterday in Wa, brought together representatives from the Ministry, the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), and the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE). The team was led by Mr. Isaac Newton, who outlined measures already taken to ensure a smooth rollout.
These measures include visits to selected schools and venues across the Upper West Region to assess their readiness for hosting training sessions and related events.
Mr. Puozuing welcomed the initiative and praised the Ministry for selecting the region as a host. He assured the team of his full support and offered guidance on how to align the programme with the cultural norms and unique context of the area.
The Girls in ICT Programme seeks to empower young girls with digital skills and encourage greater participation of women in the technology sector.
