A 45-year-old security guard, Yahaya Issah from Tagrayiri in Wa, was found dead at his workplace in Dobile near the New Market on Sunday, September 21, 2025. A knife was placed on his chest.
The cause of his death is unclear. However, investigators are assessing the situation.
Residents in the area are gripped by fear and panic, suspecting that the recent murder might signal the return of ritual killings that plagued Wa township in 2022. During that period, several security personnel were brutally murdered, with some bodies found with missing organs, sparking widespread terror.
Authorities had deployed 350 police officers to the region and offered a GHC100,000 bounty for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
Given the history of serial killings in the area, the latest incident has understandably raised concerns among locals about a potential resurgence of these violent crimes.
Last month, a similar incident happened in Sissala East Municipality where a middle aged man also a security man was killed at his workplace at the municipal office of Ministry of Food and Agriculture office in Tumu
