Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Soccernet.
The Spanish giants are said to be closing in on the appointment of former Benfica coach Jose Mourinho as their new manager, and the Portuguese tactician has already identified Osimhen as his preferred striker to spearhead the attack.
Mourinho has long been an admirer of the Super Eagles star. During Osimhen’s spell at Napoli, the two faced off several times in Serie A while Mourinho was in charge of AS Roma.
The experienced coach has also previously compared Osimhen to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba — one of Mourinho’s most trusted forwards during his time in England.
If the move materialises, Osimhen’s presence upfront could allow Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr to operate more freely in the wide attacking roles where they are considered most effective.
