Voter transfer exercise turns violent in Zabzugu leaves 5 injured

Five persons have been injured in a clash between supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the ongoing voter transfer exercise in the Zabzugu Constituency of the Northern Region.

The incident occurred when supporters of the two parties clashed at a registration center, resulting in a violent confrontation.

Five persons sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at a nearby health facility.

The voter transfer exercise, which began on Thursday, May 30, 2024, has been marred by violence and intimidation in some parts of the country.

The exercise aims to allow eligible voters to transfer their votes from their current constituency to another.

The incident has been reported to the police, and an investigation is underway.
