WAFCON 2024: Ghana’s Black Queens drawn alongside holders South Africa in Group C

Ghana’s Black Queens have been placed in Group C for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament, set to take place in Morocco next year.

The draw occurred on Friday night at the Mohammed VI Technical Center in Salé, Morocco, and was hosted by Ghanaian journalist Juliet Bawuah.

In the group stage, the Queens will compete against defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania.

This marks their first appearance in the tournament since 2018, following a successful qualifying series where they defeated Namibia 3-2 on aggregate.

In other groups, host nation Morocco, Zambia, Senegal, and DR Congo will compete in Group A, while Nigeria, Algeria, Tunisia, and Botswana will face off in Group B.

The 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will take place from July 5 to July 26, 2025, in Morocco.
