WAMPHARMA donates advanced medical devices to support Free Primary Healthcare

The Ministry of Health has received advanced bedside pulse oximeters worth more than $100,000 from pharmaceutical company WAMPHARMA to support the government’s Free Primary Healthcare initiative and improve child healthcare delivery across the country.

The equipment was presented by WAMPHARMA’s Director of Partnerships and Sales for West Africa, David Sam, who said the donation followed discussions with medical technology company Masimo on ways to contribute to the government’s flagship healthcare programme.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the government, the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, thanked the company for its support and described the gesture as a strong vote of confidence in the Free Primary Healthcare policy.

Mr Akandoh said the initiative was transforming healthcare delivery in Ghana by expanding access to essential services, particularly for vulnerable groups, including children.

He also called on corporate organisations, development partners and individuals to support government efforts to strengthen the country’s healthcare system and improve patient care nationwide.

The advanced pulse oximeters are expected to enhance the monitoring and treatment of patients, especially children, in health facilities across the country as the government continues the rollout of its Free Primary Healthcare programme.
