WASSCE 2024: 27,816 students failed core mathematics with F9 grade

27,816 candidates out of the 460,611 Ghanaian candidates who sat for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) failed Core Mathematics (Core) with an F9 grade.

The results show that 66.86% of the candidates, representing 305,132 students, obtained grades A1-C6 in Mathematics, while 5.40% had grades D7, and 4.69% had E8.

The data was contained in a statement issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Monday, December 30.

Education experts say the high failure rate in Mathematics is a worrying trend that needs to be addressed through effective teaching methods and adequate resources.

Meanwhile, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has warned candidates to be wary of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee.
