The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed former President John Mahama’s claims of initiating the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, describing it as deceptive and driven by ill-faith.
According to Sammy Awuku, Director General of the National Lottery Authority and NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Akuapem North, Mahama’s sudden u-turn on the policy is opportunistic and an attempt to associate himself with its success.
Awuku argued that Mahama’s past opposition to the policy makes his current claims untenable.
“We won’t allow Mahama to claim credit for something he initially rejected,” Awuku said.
The NPP has urged Ghanaians to disregard Mahama’s claims, reminding them of the party’s track record of opposing the policy.
Awuku made these comments during a visit to Basic Education Certificate Examination centres in the Akuapem North Municipality.
