We’ll reverse all last-minute recruitments and payments – Mahama’s Transition Team

The Transition Team of President-elect John Dramani Mahama has expressed strong reservations about the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s last-minute recruitments, payments, transfers, and promotions.

Despite an agreement reached on December 13, 2024, requiring clearance from the Joint Transition Team for such actions, the NPP government has continued to undertake these activities without consultation.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the spokesperson of the Mahama Transition Team, said that “given the bad faith displayed by the government, all these payments, recruitments, transfers, and promotions, some of which have been backdated, will be reversed” once the new government assumes office.

Additionally, public officials responsible for these actions will be “held to strict account”.

The Transition Team has cautioned public officials to resist pressure from outgoing political actors to engage in these acts, warning of “severe consequences” when the new government takes office.

The Joint Transition Team had previously agreed that all major payments and recruitment activities by the outgoing government must be reviewed and approved by the Transition Team on a case-by-case basis to ensure transparency and accountability.
