Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has assured delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of a united victory in January as the party prepares to elect its flagbearer. According to him, the NPP will work together to secure success and restore the party to what he described as its rightful place.
Dr Bawumia said he is confident of winning the January 31 flagbearer election if given the mandate by party delegates. He emphasized that the journey ahead requires collective effort, unity, and shared commitment to the ideals of the party.
The former Vice President made these remarks in a Facebook post following his visit to the Ayawaso North, Ayawaso East, and Ayawaso Central constituencies on Monday, December 29. His visit formed part of ongoing engagements with party grassroots ahead of the crucial internal elections.
Expressing gratitude to party members, Dr Bawumia thanked delegates for the warm reception and the groundwork they continue to do in support of his bid. He praised their dedication and unwavering loyalty, noting that their efforts remain critical to the party’s future success.
“This is a journey with all and for all; we will win together in January, by the grace of God, to continue with our ultimate mission of working together to restore our great party to its rightful place,” he stated in his post.
The New Patriotic Party is currently preparing to elect its flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections, a process many believe will shape the future direction of the party. Dr Bawumia is widely regarded as one of the leading contenders in the race.
Earlier, delegates in the Tema East Constituency demonstrated overwhelming support for Dr Bawumia, urging him not to waste time campaigning in the area. Chanting “Bawumia no change,” the delegates insisted they had already made up their minds to vote massively for him, even refusing to allow him to address them, saying their decision was final.
