Women and children in Abrowankor, a community in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, are pleading with the President to step in as a local conflict forces schools, banks and clinics to shut down.
For weeks now, residents of Abrowankor have lived in fear as tensions between some Adele community members and other locals boil over.
According to residents, roadblocks set up by the Adele faction have made movement impossible, leaving children stranded at home and women unable to access basic services.
“My children can’t go to school because we’re scared. The roads are blocked and we don’t feel safe,” said one mother who asked not to be named.
Banks and clinics in the area have also been forced to close, deepening the hardship for families who are already struggling.
Many residents believe the police and military have not done enough to protect them. Some even accuse security officers of siding with the Adele group by allowing roadblocks to continue.
Now, women and school children are making an emotional appeal to the President to intervene, restore peace and guarantee their safety. They say without urgent action, their children’s education and future are at risk.
