A Fellow of the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Professor Stephen Asare, also known as Kwaku Azar, has expressed concern over the Electoral Commission’s (EC) delay in publishing the final election outcomes and statistics on its website.
“It’s not good that the final election outcomes and statistics are still unavailable on the EC’s website. What’s going on?” Professor Stephen Asare questioned in a Facebook post.
The 2024 general election results are supposed to be available on the EC website, but as of now, the website only provides information on the 2020 presidential and parliamentary results.
The EC has not officially communicated the reason for the delay, but it is expected that the commission will publish the results soon.
The Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Jean Mensa, declared John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the winner of the 2024 presidential election on Monday, December 9.
Mahama secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total votes cast. His closest contender, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), garnered 4,657,304 votes, accounting for 41.61% of the total votes.
The total number of votes cast in the election was 11,430,531, out of a total registered voter population of 18,774,159. This translates to a voter turnout of 60.9%, based on results from 267 constituencies.
