Ghanaian celebrity blogger, Ameyaw Debrah, is urging organisers of the Wizkid Live concert, Live Hub Entertainment to press charges against the Afrobeats star for failing to honour his part of the contract.
According to Mr Debrah, it is absolutely right for the organisers to proceed on that tangent to halt such behaviour in the showbiz fraternity.
Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun disappointed thousands of his fans and music lovers who thronged the Accra Sports Stadium to witness his performance on December 10.
Despite announcing in a tweet to thrill the patrons, the ‘’Energy’ hit singer was nowhere to be found and the event ended abruptly in the wee hours of Sunday.
In a statement, Live Hub entertainment said Wizkid breached a contractual agreement by failing to show up at the concert.
Live Hub Entertainment assured patrons of a full refund of fees.
Appearing on Good Evening Ghana with Paul Adom Otchere on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the CEO of Ameyaw Debrah Media indicated that Wizkid should be used as a scapegoat to serve as a lesson for his colleague musicians’ indulge in such acts.
“I don’t know whether the organisers’, their books are questionable so they don’t want to take legal action and be exposed or whatever. But I think it is about time that people really…I mean it happens in abroad. Mary J Blige and Ne-Yo all of them have been sued for not showing up at concerts,” he argued.
He continued, “It is something that happens but once they are measured these people don’t feel bigger than the law. It will carve that a little bit
“Something is not right it must stop,” Ameyaw Debrah asserted.
Meanwhile, Wizkid has opened up on why he failed to show up at the Wizkid Live In Ghana concert.
According to him, safety and production issues prevented him from gracing the stage mounted at the Accra Sports Stadium on December 10, to put on a “high quality” show for fans.
In a press release on Sunday, Wizkid wrote “please understand that every decision I made co-sided with honouring my fans, and would only make a drastic decision like this because it was the right thing to do and I had to.”
The ‘Come Closer’ crooner promised his fans to organizer an event to compensate them.
