The Minister for the Interior, acting on the advice of the National Security Council and through an Executive Instrument, has lifted the ban on women riding motorbikes in the Bawku Municipality and its surrounding areas.
Under the new directive, women are now permitted to ride motorbikes daily between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The restriction on men riding motorbikes, however, remains in force until further notice.
The Ministry for the Interior said residents are expected to comply with the directive as authorities continue efforts to maintain peace and security in the area.
The latest decision marks a partial relaxation of the motorbike restrictions introduced as part of security measures in the conflict-prone municipality, with officials urging the public to cooperate fully to help preserve law and order.
