FIFA has appointed Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg to officiate Ghana’s opening Group L match against Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The highly anticipated encounter will be played on Wednesday at Toronto Stadium, with both teams eager to make a strong start in a group that also features England and Croatia.
Nyberg will be assisted by fellow Swedes Mahbod Beigi and Andreas Söderkvist, while Khalid Alturais has been named as the fourth official.
The appointment comes as excitement continues to build ahead of Ghana’s return to football’s biggest stage. Having successfully secured qualification, the Black Stars are preparing for a challenging campaign against some of the strongest teams in world football.
Nyberg is regarded as one of Europe’s experienced match officials and has overseen several high-profile fixtures across domestic and continental competitions.
