Ya-Na pledges support for peace and security in the north

The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Mahama Abubakari II, has pledged his full support to the Government’s ongoing efforts to ensure peace and security in the Northern Region.

Speaking during a courtesy call by the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, the Ya-Na encouraged all stakeholders, especially traditional authorities, political actors, and community members—to uphold peace by using dialogue and legal channels to address conflicts.

“We cannot develop if we are divided. I urge everyone to settle disputes through the proper means. As traditional leaders, we must lead by example and ensure our people live in harmony.” Ya-Na said

His Majesty expressed confidence in the government’s peace-building strategies and pledged the full cooperation of the Dagbon Kingdom in promoting stability.

Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged the crucial role traditional rulers play in maintaining peace.

He assured the Ya-Na that the government remains committed to engaging all relevant parties to tackle emerging security challenges in the region.

“We consider our traditional leaders key partners in the security architecture of this country,” the Minister noted.
