The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has partnered with the Ghana Police Service to recruit 12,000 young people as Community Police Assistants, in a major effort to combat youth unemployment and improve public safety.
The agreement, signed at the Ministry of the Interior, was witnessed by the Minister for the Interior and the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment.
For thousands of young Ghanaians seeking stable employment, this initiative offers more than just a paycheck, it’s a chance to serve their communities and build a meaningful career in public service.
Speaking at the ceremony, YEA officials emphasised that the programme is part of a broader strategy to empower the youth with sustainable job opportunities while supporting national development goals.
“This partnership reflects our firm commitment to addressing youth unemployment in a practical and impactful way,” said a YEA spokesperson. “It also gives young people the chance to contribute actively to ensuring safer neighbourhoods.”
Once recruited, the Community Police Assistants will support the Ghana Police Service in maintaining law and order at the grassroots level, helping to bridge the gap between the police and the communities they serve.
