“You can’t survive outside your mother party” – Titus Glover warns political defectors

Former Accra Regional Minister Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus Glover has cautioned politicians against breaking away from their parties, insisting that those who abandon their “mother party” often struggle to remain politically relevant.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on Wednesday, Mr. Titus Glover said loyalty remains critical in Ghana’s competitive political landscape.

“Whoever breaks from a mother party does not survive,” he declared, arguing that history shows breakaway politicians frequently fade into obscurity. According to him, political parties nurture and build individuals over time, and leaving that structure can come at a heavy cost.

A stalwart of the New Patriotic Party and an aspiring National Organiser of the party, Mr. Titus Glover said he intends to strengthen internal unity if elected. He revealed plans to re-engage former members who left the NPP due to internal disagreements, saying reconciliation would be central to his strategy.

At the same time, he signalled a tougher approach toward the opposition, stating that part of his political strategy would be to attract disaffected members from rival camps ahead of the next general election.

Mr. Titus Glover dismissed suggestions of division within the NPP following its presidential primaries held on January 31, 2026. He pointed to the victory of Mahamudu Bawumia as evidence of cohesion within the party, noting that the various aspirants publicly congratulated Dr. Bawumia after the results were declared.

“There is unity among the leaders,” he said, maintaining that the party remains focused and intact as it prepares for the upcoming polls.
