Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to clarify his stance on the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, noting that the people of Ghana and his constituency do not support homosexuality.
Sam George questioned the First Gentleman during the National Democratic Congress’ presidential candidate John Mahama’s campaign visit to his constituency ahead of the December 7 elections.
“Mr. President Akufo-Addo, as the representative of Ningo Prampram, the people of Ghana want to hear what your view is on the LGBTQ bill that is before you. Say something and sign it,” he stated, highlighting the President’s eight-month silence on the legislation
He also criticized Akufo-Addo’s call for John Dramani Mahama to address galamsey, pointing out that Mahama has already spoken clearly on the issue.
Sam George stressed that President Akufo-Addo’s inaction on the Anti-gay bill has led to perceptions that he supports LGBTQ rights.
“You are beginning to appear as a supporter of LGBTQ. The people of Ghana and the people of Ningo Prampram do not want it,” he noted.
Sam George also called on President Akufo-Addo to address galamsey within his own administration before criticizing others.
“Take the log out of your eye before you talk about the speck in anybody’s eye.”
