Ablakwa hails NPRA’s decision to suspend sale of SSNIT Hotels

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has welcomed the National Pensions Regulatory Authority’s (NPRA) directive to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to halt the sale of four hotels to Rock City Hotel Limited.

In a social media post, Ablakwa celebrated the decision as a “significant initial victory” in the fight against what he termed “State Capture.”

He vowed to continue the resistance, stating “the battle is not over” and urging more vigilance.

“The Power of the masses at work! National Pensions Regulatory Authority orders SSNIT to suspend sale of our hotels to Rock City. A significant initial victory but the battle is not over — more vigilance and even more resistance required. State Capture shall be defeated! #HandsOffOurHotels For God and Country. Ghana First,” Ablakwa posted on Facebook and Twitter.

Ablakwa has been a vocal critic of the sale, alleging corruption, abuse of power, and lack of transparency.

His campaign against the sale has garnered significant public support, with many Ghanaians expressing outrage over the potential sale of the hotels to Rock City Hotel Limited, owned by Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong.

The NPRA’s decision to suspend the sale is seen as a major setback for SSNIT and Rock City Hotel Limited, and a victory for Ablakwa and the many Ghanaians who opposed the sale.
