Ambulance Trial: High Court directs National Security to investigate leaked audio recordings

The High Court in Accra has ordered National Security to investigate the source of audio recordings of court proceedings leaked on social media.

The directive came during the cross-examination by the Attorney General on  Tuesday, June 18, after Deputy Attorney General, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, revealed that an audio recording of the previous week’s proceedings was circulating on social media.

Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, a Justice of the Court of Appeal sitting as an additional High Court judge, cautioned that if the leak continues, the court may conduct proceedings in-camera.

The court admitted the audio recording into evidence on June 13, citing fairness and relevance to the case. The recording had been previously admitted and was pivotal in the mistrial decision.

The controversy surrounds the audio recording, which defense lawyers argue forms a crucial basis for the charges of causing financial loss to the state made by the Attorney General.
