Bawumia mediates, resolves Wontumi-Napo differences

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate for election 2024, has successfully mediated the longstanding differences between Bernard Antwi Boasiako ( Chairman Wontumi), Ashanti Regional Chairman, and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo), Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and Minister for Energy.

The mediation, part of Dr. Bawumia’s broader consultations ahead of announcing his running mate, resolved the outstanding issues between Wontumi and NAPO, including disagreements over party matters and NAPO’s potential nomination as Bawumia’s running mate.

A meeting convened by Dr. Bawumia at his official residence, attended by senior party members, led to a constructive resolution of all outstanding issues.

Sources close to the negotiations confirmed that Wontumi and NAPO have committed to uniting behind Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.

This unity paves the way for Dr. Bawumia to present NAPO as his running mate nominee to the NPP’s national council on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, for endorsement.

Once endorsed, Dr. Bawumia will officially announce NAPO as his running mate in the first week of July, marking a significant milestone as the NPP prepares for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
