Bernard Mornah raises concerns over timing and filing fee of upcoming PNC congress

Former National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and flagbearer hopeful, Bernard Mornah, has expressed some concerns over the recently announced congress scheduled for August 31, 2024.

In a statement, Mr. Mornah raised several issues with the publication, including the tight timeline, high fees, and potential conflict with the Annual Homowo Festival of the Ga-Adangbe people from the Greater Accra Region.

“The August 31, 2024 will not favorour members (Ga-Adangbe) from the Greater Accra Region since the period wil conflict with their Annual Homowo Festival.”

“There are also no Guidelines acompanying the announcement of Congress and its scheduled fees. This is unusual. It is prudent to know the Dos andDon’ts of the Congress,” the statement said.

The flagbearer hopeful asserted that the timelines of August 31, 2024 seem too far, especially considering the time left for the General Elections and the stated third or fourth week of August for Congress wil not help the party since the Electoral Commision wil open nominations in September “and that wil give us undue pressure”

Mr. Mornah also noted the lack of guidelines accompanying the announcement and the absence of a clear nomination process, hence appealed to the party to address these concerns and find quick remedy to the shortcomings in the earlier communication.

“The said announcement of the timelines and fees did not come with the usual composition of relevant Commitees to aid the work of the party.”

“We wilt herefore appeal to your outfit to look into these isues and speedily remedy the lacunas in the earlier communication, sir” the statement concluded.
