Gospel act, Diana Asamoah has announced that she has recorded a campaign song for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in preparation for the 2024 general elections.
The singer revealed that the song was completed before the NPP’s presidential primaries but was awaiting the winner’s name to be added to it. Diana Asamoah, known for her affiliation with the NPP and her past contributions to the party’s campaign songs during President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s term, confirmed that her campaign song is now ready for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who emerged as the victor in the NPP primaries, securing the party’s flagbearer position.
During an interview with Okay FM on Monday, November 6, 2023, Diana Asamoah refuted claims that Dr Bawumia’s name was included in the song before the NPP primaries. She expressed her unwavering support for the NPP and underscored the importance of divine guidance in their decisions. She clarified that the song was originally composed without specifying any names, and she intended to incorporate the name of the victorious candidate, which, as it turned out, is Dr Bawumia.
Diana Asamoah explained, “If it were you who won, I would have used your name for the song,” addressing the show host, Abeiku Santana.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia emerged as the winner in the NPP Primaries and was officially announced as the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 elections.
