Election 2024: I am the president Ghana needs now – Alan Kyerematen

The founder and leader of the Movement for Change, Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremanten, has claimed that he is the president Ghana currently needs.

This, he stated, is in response to suffering Ghanaians who are looking for that “perfect” candidate to end the duopoly being enjoyed by the two leading political parties – the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and governing New Patriotic Party (NPP)

“I am the president Ghana needs now. The country is more divided than it used to be and Ghanaians are looking for someone who can unite them and get the system working again”

“People are saying I am the right person to lead Ghana now and this they know. People know this”

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the former Trade and Industry Minister expressed his conviction that he is the right leader to guide the country at this critical juncture, especially as the country is struggling to stay afloat economically.

Mr. Kyeremanten posited that even people in the NPP are looking forward to him to become president, “Even in the NDC,” emphasizing that there is widespread appeal of his candidacy.

The leader of Movement for Change also pledged not only to break the duopoly of the two dominant political parties, but form a government that draws from both sides.

“When I become the first independent president, I will select my ministers from the NDC and NPP even if there are independent parliamentarians,”

Drawing inspiration from the successful model in Benin, Mr. Kyeremanten argued that the past has never seen a strong independent candidate, but he believes that his track record and experience set him apart.

He also noted that although former American president George Washington was an Independent Candidate, he was able to win elections and formed government for two terms, hence his belief that he could replicate same in Ghana.
