Free SHS Bill to be laid before Parliament next week

The Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin, has announced that the Education Minister, Dr Yaw Adutwum, will next week lay the Free Senior High School (SHS) Bill before Parliament for consideration.

Presenting the Business Statement for next week on the floor of the House, Mr Afenyo Markin said the Bill would seek to consolidate the gains made in the implementation of the Free SHS programme and ensure its sustainability.

The Free SHS programme, a flagship initiative of the government, was introduced in 2017 to provide free secondary education to all students in public senior high schools.

The Bill is expected to provide a legal framework for the programme and ensure that it is protected and sustained for future generations.
