GII boss calls for swift investigation into abandoned patient case

The Executive Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Mary Awelana Addah, has expressed concern over the 30-day timeline given to the committee investigating the alleged abandonment of a patient at Gomoa Ojobi.

Speaking to JoyNews, Mrs. Addah questioned the need for 30 days to establish facts that have already been established, given the available evidence and accounts.

She noted that the prolonged timeline could perpetuate impunity and embolden others to commit similar acts.

The committee, established by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), has been tasked with investigating the incident and providing recommendations to prevent similar occurrences.

The Health Minister, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, has charged the committee to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure accountability.
