Govt navigating economy back to stability – Deputy Sanitation Minister

Member of Parliament for Sissala East and Deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Amidu Chinnia Issahaku, has expressed confidence in the government’s ability to manage the economy, stating that it is “bouncing back” and undergoing repair.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Issahaku credited the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for stabilizing the economy, despite challenges.

He drew comparisons with the previous administration, led by John Mahama, stating that the NDC’s record shows a higher rate of debt accumulation.

“The NDC has its record, the NPP also has its record…if it was under NDC’s watch, as we saw in the 8 years of John Mahama’s era as vice president and as president, things would have been worse than they are,” Issahaku said.

He emphasized that the current government is navigating the economy back to stability, despite challenges.

The economy remains a key campaign issue as the country heads towards the 2024 elections, with both the NPP and NDC seeking to convince voters of their ability to manage the economy effectively.
