NHIA’s decision on dialysis costs unsustainable – Akandoh

Ranking Member on the Health Committee of Parliament, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, says the National Health Insurance Authority’s (NHIA) decision to absorb the cost of dialysis for patients is a knee-jerk action that the government will not be able to sustain for the next six months.

The Juaboso Member of Parliament (MP) emphasized that the government needs to engage with stakeholders to map out sustainable policies to address the issue.

Akandoh’s commentscome after the NHIA announced that it would absorb the cost of dialysis for patients, effective immediately.

While the decision has been welcomed by many, Akandoh is cautioning the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government that it may not be sustainable in the long term.
