Political parties unite against violence in electioneering period

In a show of commitment to peaceful elections, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), New Patriotic Party (NPP), and other minority political parties have pledged to avoid violence and refrain from engaging vigilantes during the electioneering period.

At an inter-party dialogue on election violence mitigation organized by the National Peace Council in Accra, the parties agreed to promote peace and tranquility in the run-up to the polls.

Mr. Abraham Amaliba, Director of Legal Affairs for the NDC, called on the Peace Council to advise the Electoral Commission (EC) to remain impartial and discharge its mandate without fear or favor.

The inter-party dialogue brought together stakeholders to discuss ways to mitigate election violence and promote peaceful elections.

The National Peace Council commended the parties for their commitment to peace and urged them to continue to work together to ensure a violence-free electioneering period.
