Protecting the environment is a shared duty – EPA

The Eastern Regional Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Felix Addo Okyere, has emphasized that the survival of human beings depends on the environment and its protection is a collective responsibility.

Speaking at a quiz competition among basic schools in the New Juaben South Municipality to mark World Environment Day, Mr. Okyere noted that the current state of the environment was unsatisfactory and required the involvement of all, especially the youth, to champion environmental protection.

He stressed that environmental protection was not the sole responsibility of the EPA, Municipal Assemblies, or Chiefs, but a collective effort of all Ghanaians.

Mary Shaddey, Eastern Regional Public Affairs Manager of Zoomlion Ghana, also condemned indiscriminate littering, illegal mining, and deforestation, which contribute to climate change and environmental challenges.

She urged the public to halt such activities.

The quiz competition was won by Koforidua Freeman Methodist School.
