Protests under Akufo-Addo government have been largely peaceful – Lawuratu Musah-Saaka

A member of the New Patriotic Party’s communications team and Deputy Executive Secretary of the Postal Courier Services Regulatory Commission, Lawuratu Musah-Saaka, has acknowledged that demonstrations in Ghana have largely been peaceful under President Nana Addo’s regime.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Madam Musah-Saaka responded to Dr. Palgrave Boakye Danquah’s caution against violent protests, stating that while there have been some violent incidents in the past, such as the #LETMYVOTECOUNT demonstration, most demonstrations under this regime have been peaceful.

Her comments follow a tragic turn of events in Kenya, where a peaceful protest against the Finance Bill 2024 escalated into bloodshed last week, leaving unarmed civilians fatally shot by security forces.

Musah-Saaka emphasized that “nobody encourages violence” and stressed that violence has never solved any problems.

She urged Ghanaians to maintain peaceful channels of communication at all costs.
