SSNIT’s Digital Revolution: Mobile app, website & portal to redefine member revolution experience

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has announced its readiness to launch a mobile application at the end of July 2024.

The move aims to further digitize its operations and improve service delivery to contributors while joining and keeping up with the global digital ecosystem.

Delivering a presentation at a media encounter on June 29, 2024, the Management Information Systems (MIS) General Manager at SSNIT Godson Ladzekpo, highlighted details on the features and capabilities of the new SSNIT Mobile app.

According to him, the app will allow SSNIT members to initiate and complete registration, perform nominee updates, access member statements, make contribution payments, apply and track benefits, complete pensioner certification, access pensioner pay slips, and file complaints and enquiries, stressing that “all these will be available to our cherished clients which they can operate seamlessly at the comfort of their home”

To simplify enrolment of new clients and customer interaction through integrated facial recognition and AI chat bot, Mr. Ladzekpo said SSNIT by the end of July 2024, will deploy a new website and portal with features such as initiating and completing registration online, payment of contributions, benefit application and tracking, access to pensioner pay slip, interact with contact staff through a chat box among host of other easy-to-operate tools.

This latest development comes after SSNIT’s recent enhancement of its USSD platform in April 2024 which offers enhanced menu options and navigation, easy access to services using account codes, member wallet services, income declaration, and pension guidance, among other features aimed at enhancing the quality-of-service delivery to contributors.

SSNIT’s digitization agenda has also enabled the synchronization of its database with other key state agencies, such as the National Identification Authority (NIA).

The MIS General Manager explained that this has helped to reduce identity theft and provided SSNIT access to the national data of over 15 million individuals.

He also disclosed that SSNIT has linked its data with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), allowing the organization to track tax-paying establishments and ensure they fulfill their social security obligations. Similarly, the integration with the Registrar General’s Department has enabled SSNIT to track both existing and newly registered companies to enroll them in the SSNIT scheme.

“The launch of the SSNIT Mobile app is a significant step forward in our journey to digitize and transform our operations”

“SSNIT through its digitization agenda, has been able to synchronized database with other integral state agencies like National Identification Authority which saw reduction in Identity theft and create access to national data of over 15 million individuals”

“SSNIT has been able to link its data with Ghana Revenue Authority, helping it to track tax paying establishments to fulfil their social security obligations. The same can be said with Registrar General’s Department for ensuring it tracks both existing and newly registered companies to enroll on the SSNIT scheme”

Now, contributors can electronically access their statement of account via email without any restrictions, which will be released to them quarterly, enabling them to have real-time access.

Mr. Ladzekpo noted that the major goals of digitizing SSNIT operations is not only to join the global trend but improve service delivery and trust with constituents, communicating in real-time with members and clients while facilitating the onboarding of self-employed workers, motivating them to sign-up for an increased contribution payments through e-payment platform.
