Strike by Lab technicians paralyses healthcare in Northern Region

A nationwide strike by laboratory science technicians is having a devastating impact on healthcare delivery in the Northern Region.

Metro News visits to major hospitals in the region revealed empty laboratory facilities, with medical doctors at Tamale Teaching Hospital and Northern Regional Hospital decrying the strike’s effects on their work.

Patients are being forced to seek laboratory services outside the facilities, with some unable to afford the exorbitant charges of private laboratories.

Laboratory technicians at Northern Regional Hospital refuse to provide services, citing government neglect and demands for risk allowances due to exposure to laboratory machines.

The strike has left many patients stranded across the region, raising concerns about potential loss of lives if the strike is not called off soon.
