There must be transparency in state property acquisition – NDC’s Louisa Kwakye

A member of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) communications team, Louisa Kwakye, has raised concerns about politicians acquiring state properties, citing Bryan Acheampong’s attempt to purchase SSNIT hotel as a prime example.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on Monday, June 24, Madam Louisa Kwakye argued that this practice raises ethical questions and potentially harms the country.

She explained that politicians should not use their positions to acquire state properties, as it creates a conflict of interest and can lead to the downfall of government agencies

Her comments come amid concerns about the alleged mismanagement of state properties and the potential for politicians to abuse their power for personal benefit.

Madam Louisa Kwakye emphasized that government entities should not become the properties of politicians, as it undermines the country’s ability to generate revenue.

“Where will we, the state, get money to run the country?” she asked.

She stressed that transparency is crucial in state property acquisition, and politicians must not be allowed to exploit their positions for personal gain.

“Government entities should not become properties of politicians, period,” Kwakye asserted.
