WORLD DIPLOMATIC FEDERATION TO ORGANIZE NTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL COMPANIONSHIP CUP

 

A delegation from the World Diplomatic Federation, a registered company in the United States of America paid a courtesy call on Hon. Mustapha Ussif, Minister for Youth and Sports on 7th December, 2023 in Accra.

The delegation used the occasion to brief the Hon. Minister on the activities undertaken by the federation so far and the intended organization of a sporting event dubbed “US AFRICA Companionship Cup”, which is expected to support African football clubs to market their brands in order to attract sponsorship.

They also informed the Minister of the official unveiling of the event, which is scheduled to take place on 13th January, 2024 at the Accra International Conference Center.

Hon. Mustapha Ussif on his part welcomed the delegation to his outfit and expressed his gratitude to them for coming up with an initiative which seeks to identify some of the challenges that club football are faced with and the need to create an enabling platform for them to market their brand.

He assured them of his support for the event and promised to forward the proposal to his team of experts at the Ministry to also make their recommendations as to how best the two parties could collaborate to ensure that the event runs successfully.

Four Ghanaian elite football clubs, made up of two male and two female teams namely Aduana FC, Dreams FC, Hasaccas Ladies and Ampem Darkoa Ladies will participate in the Championship.

The two teams according to the organizers were selected based on their impressive performance on the local and International scenes.

Clubs from nine other countries are also expected to vie for honours in the Championship slated for Atlanta, Georgia in the United States on a date yet to be determined.
