YEA exits 2000 community health workers into health training institutions

In the government’s effort to eradicate the canker of unemployment which has become an albatross hanging around the neck of the youth in the country, an initiative known as the Community Health Workers Exit Strategic Plan for the Health Module of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to absorb the qualify ones into the mainstream health training institutions has been launched in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

The 2,000 Community Health Workers were among the 6000 workers recruited nationwide two years ago to work in the Agency under the health module but through the new Exit Plan introduced by the YEA.

Qualified individuals are offered the opportunity to further their education in order to be recruited permanently into the various institutions according to their work modules.

Speaking in an interview with the Director of Technical Services at the YEA, Chris Arthin Arthur, he reiterated the rationale behind the initiative.

The Eastern Regional Director of YEA Jerry Osei Poku lauded the effort of Ghana Health Service through the Ministry of Health for the collaboration to absorb the qualified candidates into the mainstream of health training Institutions.
