Ghana’s Herman Abban clinched a straight-set victory over Seybou Kalaga to reach the second round of the ongoing African Games tennis segment.
The Ghanaian needed 1 hour and 15 minutes to wrap up a 6-2, 6-3 win against the Burkina Faso National.
Herman Abban made sound start to the tennis tournament and is bidding to become the first Ghanaian to win African Games singles title.
Herman will face Ivorian international Coulibaly Eliakim Wilfried in the second round of the tournament.
“I don’t remember having a better match in wind than I did today,” Herman said.
Herman broke twice in the opening sets and claimed the decisive break in the six game of the second to seal his place in the second round.
