2023 BECE: Invigilators cautioned against use of electronic gadgets

Supervising officers of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been cautioned against the use of electronic gadgets in examination halls.

Doing so will constitute an examination offense.

A total of 5, 453 candidates will be sitting for the examination at 24 centers in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

Candidates say they are adequately prepared academically for the exams and are confident of coming out with success.

They also say they have received adequate education on the guidelines set by WEAC for the examination

The Gomoa East District Education Director, Francisca De-Graft Johnson in an interview told Metro News that preparations are far advanced to ensure a smooth takeoff of the examination on Monday, August 8, 2023.

She says examination materials have already been disbursed to the various centers.

According to her, the directorate will enforce strictly the guidelines set for the conduct of this year’s examination including the prevention of usage of electronic gadgets by invigilators in the examination hall.

Last year about 84 percent of candidates who sat for the BECE passed to gain access to secondary education. This year, the directorate is hoping that at least 86 percent will pass to improve the earlier record.
