Amewu backs down from testifying in SALL election petition

The High Court in Ho has been notified by Counsel for Peter Amewu, Mr. Kofitse, that his client will not testify in his defense in the ongoing SALL election petition case.

This decision comes despite Amewu having filed an amended witness statement on July 1, 2024.

According to Mr. Kofitse, the issues in the case are mostly legal matters, which he will address in court.

The case was stood down earlier due to Counsel’s absence in another court.

Justice Yaw Owoahene Acheampong has directed counsel for the petitioners and the EC to file their addresses within seven days, while Amewu’s counsel has been granted ten days.

The Judge has warned that non-compliance with these timelines will not be tolerated, and has set July 29, 2024, for judgment.
