Antigay bill is a game changer not just human right — Speaker

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin on the second seating which commenced on June 6 to deliberate on the Economic Growth Budget Review and the Anti-LGBTQ has stated that the conversation around the controversial bill is a game changer and not just a human right.

During Parliament sitting on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, Alban Bagbin issued a strong-worded caution to those mounting pressure on the House to take any decision on Anti- LGBTQ bill.

He noted that when human beings want to act like cats or dogs the Anti-LGBTQ bill is not an “animal left” much less a “human right”.

Speaker Alban Bagbin added that he is glad the proponents of the Anti-LGBTQ bill engaged traditional leaders on this issue and they have all come to a common agreement that the LGBTQ is wrong.

Mr. Bagbin further wondered how one can see all these beautiful men and women and yet chose otherwise.

The conversation surrounding the LGBTQ became heated when the Vice President of the USA Kamala Harris visited Ghana.

“I feel very strongly about the importance of supporting the freedom and supporting the fighting for equality among all people, and that all people be treated equally,” Harris said Monday at a joint press conference with Ghanian President Nana Akufo-Addo. “I will also say that this is an issue that we consider and I consider to be a human rights issue, and that will not change,” he said.
