Appiatse Reconstruction: Redeveloped Township To Be Commissioned In Three Months

Chairman of the Appiatse Support Fund, Rev. Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee says she is looking forward to the commissioning of the redeveloped township in a possible three months’ time.

A total of 540 units of houses have been earmarked for construction, ranging from one-bedroom to seven-bedroom houses, after a devastating explosion in the township on 20th January 2022.

Speaking on Current Affairs Show Spotlight, on MX24 TV, Dr. Joyce Aryee said a lot of effort has been put into the construction by the team including community members who were carried along in the redevelopment.

“We’ve come quite far and I really am looking forward to us commissioning it in at least the next three months. The team worked very hard. What should have taken two years, usually when you’re planning some of these things, you have to go to the community and talk to the people, that took a long time, the design also took a bit of time.” she stated.

The Chairperson also indicated that the reconstruction comes with multiple of new structures for every house including a veranda, toilet facility, kitchen among others.

“Most communities had one-bedroom, two bedrooms, and it’s just one room or two rooms, no distinction, what we’ve tried doing is to give at least a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen, a toilet and a veranda,” she added.

The Appiatse support fund was commissioned on 27th January 2022, a week after the disastrous explosion to solicit for funds for the reconstruction of the township.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson says the reconstruction will come with the building of a new modern market and road network for the community.
