The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has commended the Methodist Church for establishing the Association of Traditional Rulers in the Church and officially acknowledging them.

He described the move was a step in the right direction, as religion and tradition intermarry in many ways as both serve one God.

He observed that Traditional Leaders have advanced the course of Christianity and this is key to national development.

The Minister was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Association of Methodist Traditional Rulers on Tuesday, 6th December, 2023, in Accra, where he mentioned that the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs had been engaging stakeholders on a proposed policy on religion, and entreated the Reverend Ministers and Bishops to also be part of the discussion as their contribution to the self-regulatory policy that would shape the religious front.

For his part, the President of the Ga Traditional Council, Nii Teiko Tsuru noted that Traditional Rulers acknowledge God as the Supreme Authority hence they reverence him in all things. According to him, Traditional Leaders recognise the fact that they cannot rule without God, that explains why they always pray to him to seek his guidance in every decision they take on all occasions.

He added that the marriage between faith and tradition was at the right place because both worship and pray to the same God.
