Bawumia using his own resources to campaign – Spokesperson

Dr. Gideon Boako, the Vice President’s spokesperson has debunked claims that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is abusing incumbency contesting the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearership race and subsequently as president of Ghana.

He told Dr. Randy Abbey on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, that the Vice President embarks on his campaign trails using his own resources.

“The candidate Bawumia has done well he goes to the campaign with his only procured or bought vehicle. All of us sit in one bus. We move across the length and width of this country in a bus. No long convoys. You wouldn’t see security men in uniform following the vice president,” he said on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV.

Doing this, the Vice President’s spokesperson, said Dr. Bawumia has been able to tone down on the incumbency effect that usually accompanies such campaigns.

“I think the party people and the Ghanaian people also appreciate it,” he added.

Dr. Boako described boss’ character as “very frugal. He’s trying to be very simple as it’s been his character. Humble, and simple, but focus on what he’s doing and that is basically what we have been doing.”
