Cecilia Dapaah’s frozen accounts: Court to give its verdict on August 27

The freezing of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah’s bank accounts will be decided by an Accra High Court on Thursday, August 17, 2023.

As part of the inquiry into corruption charges, the troubled politician’s accounts and investments including large sums of dollars and cedis were frozen.

The Office of Special Prosecutor has filed a motion to confirm the frozen bank accounts

“confirmation of the seizure by the Office of the Special Prosecutor of the property of the Respondent upon the grounds contained in the accompanying affidavit and for any further order(s) as the court may deem fit,” documents available to JoyNews reveal.

Meanwhile, the OSP has disclosed that $5 million was found in Madam Dapaah’s Prudential Bank accounts.

Also, one million cedis in investments and cash amounting to one million cedis in her Societe General account.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor further found $590,000 during the search of her Abelemkpe residence.

A total of $2,730,000 in cash was discovered at the same location.

This follows allegations that two house helps, Patience Botwe, 18, and Sarah Agyei, 30, stole huge amounts of money from Cecilia Dapaah’s Abelempke home.

The alleged theft of money and other things from the former Sanitation Minister and her husband, Daniel Osei Kuffour, occurred between July and October 2022, according to court filings.

A current and past boyfriend of Patience, as well as her father, are the other suspects in the case. All of them are alleged to have played different roles.
