Christian Atsu still missing after more than 56 hours of Turkey earthquake

Ghanaian international Christian Atsu has not been found since the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey earlier this week, according to Hatayspor team doctor, Gurbey Kahveci.

The former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger was reportedly rescued from the rubble on February 6 after 26 hours, allaying Ghanaians’ concerns.

The footballer was reportedly dragged out of the rubble alive with only minor injuries, and he was then rushed to the hospital, according to Turkish media.

However, Kahveci, the team doctor for the side Atsu represents has shut down such news.

According to him, Taner Savut, the club’s sporting director, as well as the player are still missing.

“When we heard the news that “he was taken to Dortyol Hospital”, we especially went and looked, but it was not there.”

“At the moment, we accept that [the sporting director] Taner Savut and Christian Atsu were not found, unfortunate,” Kahveci said.
