Confusion in Akim Oda NPP as party youth unhappy with aspirant’s clearance put on hold after vetting

The youth wing in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Akim Oda Constituency have expressed displeasure in the Eastern Regional NPP Vetting Committee for putting parliamentary candidate hopeful, Dennis Obeng Agyei clearance on hold after vetting due to a petition filed by some constituency executives that he has disrespected his incumbent MP.

The Eastern Regional NPP Vetting Committee on Thursday 4th January, 2024 at Koforidua after vetting Dennis Obeng Agyei, popularly called Densa – #JoyIsComing), a parliamentary candidate hopeful for Akim Oda Constituency, announced that his clearance has been put on hold until he goes back to face the constituency disciplinary committee.

According to the regional chairman, some Akyem Oda constituency executives have filed a petition against the parliamentary candidate hopeful that he has disrespected the incumbent MP, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, he planned a demonstration with Oda market women against the government when their central market got burnt, and also he has incited the people of Akyem Aboabo against the MP.

Speaking as the lead speaker at a press conference held in front of Akim Oda NPP party office, Clement Attafuah, who happens to be the Presiding Member for Birim Central Municipal Assembly and also an Area Coordinator for Oda NPP debunked all the accusations. He called on the party to reconsider its decision else the NPP should forget about breaking the eight in Akim Oda constituency.

Madam Abena Esson who was the lead organizer of the said demonstration also added her voice and debunked the accusation on Dennis Obeng Agyei and revealed that the market women organized it themselves due to the difficulties they were going through after their market got burnt and they were abandoned by the government.

Some of the aggrieved NPP youth who joined the presser also lamented their worry about why their fellow youth Dennis Obeng Agyei clearance to contest for Akim Oda NPP parliamentary candidate has been put on hold and pleaded with the NPP national executives to come to their aid else they should forget about breaking the eight in Akim Oda.
