Continuous Stay Of Ken Ofori-Atta In Office Is Bad News & Major Problem For NPP – Kwesi Pratt

Veteran Journalist and Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has questioned the continuous stay in office of Ken Ofori-Atta as the Minister for Finance of the country.

According to Mr. Pratt, even the presentation of the 2023 Mid-Year Budget Review to parliament by Ken Ofori-Atta, a man he describes has lost the confidence of his own party folks and the opposition party, is very harmful to the fortunes of the NPP in the upcoming 2024 General Elections.

Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM following the presentation of the Mid-Year Budget Review, Kwesi Pratt expressed difficulty in understanding why the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and the New Patriotic Party seemingly cannot find a better replacement for the Finance Minister.

The veteran journalist is of the opinion that a man who has superintended over the current economic hardships in the country does not deserve to still be at post and even go ahead to present the Mid-Year Budget Review to the national assembly.

He further stated that Ken Ofori-Atta’s continuous stay in office will have a negative impact on the chances of whoever becomes the next flagbearer of the governing NPP.

“Does the NPP lack people? I can’t understand it. Does the NPP not have people again? The party has people, so where are these brilliant people?. . Is it only one person who understands the economy in the NPP?” Don’t they realize that the mere fact that it is still Ken Ofori-Atta who is in charge and presenting the budget is a problem? It’s a major hurdle for them, can’t they realize that?” he queried.

The Finance Minister on Monday presented the mid-year fiscal policy review before Parliament highlighting some economic reforms laid out by the government to restore the economy. He touched on various sectors of the economy and underscored the government’s measures to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians.

But to Kwesi Pratt, the Minister still being in charge of the country’s finances is problematic.
